The Eastern Washington University Downtown Student Gallery will present new works by Laura Carpenter Truitt in her show (de)clutter. The gallery is free and open to the public.
Gonzaga University art professor Laura Carpenter Truitt uses shape, texture, and space to construct architectural landscapes that bleed through our physical realm into realms unknown. Her work operates on multiple thresholds that explore metaphor, architecture, structure, and a physicality. Through her art, Truitt hopes to “reassert the value of the act of painting and address the medium’s contemporary insecurities.”
(de)clutter examines how to balance time in interior and exterior spaces, examines creation and destruction, and examines a midpoint of completeness.
The exhibit begins Monday, Mar. 5 and runs through Friday, Apr. 6. An artist’s reception will be held from 4:30-6:00 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 15. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres provided.
Gallery hours: M-F 12-5 p.m. Location: 404 2nd St, Cheney, WA Phone: 509.359.6802
